John Wesley Rivers was born on August 1, 1968, in Queens New York to the proud parents, Beatrice Rivers and father Harvey Graham. He was born and raised
in South Jamaica Queens and then moved to Hollis Queens where he grew up in the house with 11 siblings, 8 brothers and 3 sisters. Graduating from Andrew Jackson High School in 1987 where
he went on to further his education at LaGuardia Community College, where he majored in Business Communication.
In 1990, he met Tamiko Garris and on November 4, 1994 they were united in holy matrimony to live as one. From this union they were blessed with four
beautiful children Nieisha Mon'et Rivers, Jaleik John Wesley Rivers, Jahnyce Carin Rivers, and Javen Nathaniel Rivers.
John Rivers was born and raised in church. He was saved at a young age, under the ministry of Rev. Cornelius Davis at Community Friendly Baptist
Church. He sang in the Rev. C. Davis children's Chorus. In 1990 the Lord led him to Bibleway Temple to serve under the leadership of Bishop Jesse C. Davenport Jr. and Mother Frances
Davenport. During that time John Rivers began to hear the voice of God speak to him concerning ministry. In 1996 John Rivers accepted his mandate from God to preach and teach the word of
God. During this time he did bible study with Elder Gilbert Baham. In 1998 he attended New Greater Bethel Bible Institute where he received his Bachelor Degree in Religious
Education. In July of 2002 he was elevated to the office of Elder.
He continued his faithfulness to the son of the Bishop, Pastor Jesse C. Davenport III and First Lady Monique Davenport. He was a loyal and faithful
Associate Minister to his Pastor Jesse C. Davenport and First Lady Monique Davenport for
over five years. Elder John Rivers truly loved his Pastor and First Lady and vowed his unwavering commitment. "To whom much is given much is required" - Luke 12:48, Teaching Bible School,
singing on the choir, teaching new members class, teaching Sunday School, serving as a Deacon, and serving the Pastor and his family. "The bible says whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it
with thy might" - Ecclesiastes 9:10, and that's what Elder John Rivers has done. Pastor Jesse C. Davenport heard from the Lord and saw fit to elevate Elder John Rivers to Assistant Pastor where
he diligently served God, Pastor Jesse C. Davenport III, and the entire Bibleway family.
The Lord spoke again to Elder Rivers on August 2014 and he obediently answered by stepping out on faith and accepting the calling over his life to
Pastorship. On December 5, 2015 at Friendly's Apostolic Church Elder John Rivers was installed to the office of Pastor by Bishop
Newman, and is now the Shepard of Worship Christian Center. Pastor John Rivers was born with a purpose to serve. Standing on the Scripture
"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." - John 15:7, Serving the Lord continues to be a driving force in his life. He has been
committed to leadership and ministry. He has great compassion for Gods people and continues to help those in need. His request is that the will of God continues to be done in his
